SOJ Advisory Board member Andrew Morse joins Bloomberg Television

Andrew Morse, a recent addition to the School of Journalism advisory board has been named head of Bloomberg Television in the U.S.

Morse will oversee all editorial operations including programing, operations and development of Bloomberg Television, the 24-hour business news channel that reaches over 270 million homes worldwide.

Before taking up his post at Bloomberg, Morse oversaw all digital operations of ABC News and was a pioneering mind behind their digital endeavors. Morse was the recent speaker at the School of Journalism Banquet and was named a member of the School of Journalism Advisory Board.

Morse, joined the professional advisory board of the School of Journalism in June. He joins 14 established journalists on the board that helps provide guidance for the school.

At ABC, Morse joined in the the design of the company’s iPad application, which has had 750,000 downloads. He oversaw all of ABC News’ digital portfolio, with responsibility for, ABC News Now, the network’s 24-hour broadband channel, and emerging platforms.

Morse has lead the coverage of major news stories such as the earthquake in Haiti, the revolution in Egypt and the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. In addition, Morse has spearheaded the integration of social media into the traditional news coverage. He made ABC News the first official media partner with Facebook during the 2008 elections when no other media outlets were using social media the way they are today.

Morse has a B.A. in Government from Cornell University and completed the Sulzberger Executive Leadership Fellowship at Columbia University.
