The Robert W. Greene Summer Institute for High School Journalists was recently featuredin the North Shore Sun. The institute is the School of Journalism’s intensive, residential summer workshop that introduced 16 Long Island high school students to basic skills in news reporting, writing, editing and using video.
The program was started at the request of the late Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter and editor Robert W. Greene, who was a professor at both Stony Brook and Hofstra Universities, and a journalist at Newsday in Melville, N.Y. It was his dream to create a boot-camp for young journalists.
This year’s program concluded July 30. The students’ work is featured on www.greenegazette.com.
