Josh Caray is a veteran reporter, anchor and play-by-play broadcaster who joined the Stony Brook faculty as an adjunct professor in 2017. In addition, Caray is the play-by-play voice for Stony Brook football and men’s basketball as well as the Hudson Valley Renegades baseball team in the summer.Caray joins Stony Brook from his hometown of Atlanta, where he worked for two-and-a-half years in a radio/television hybrid position as a news reporter, assignment editor and liaison for News Radio 106.7 (WYAY-FM) and Fox 5 Atlanta (WAGA-TV) while also anchoring on the radio side. Josh also spent time as a television news anchor for KAVU in the small city of Victoria, TX. Caray is also a freelance sports play-by-play broadcaster for Learfield Sports.
Before that, Josh worked for five seasons in minor league baseball calling games for the Atlanta Braves single-A affiliate in Rome, GA and their triple-A team in Gwinnett County, Georgia. He also called independent baseball for teams in Maryland and Texas and also worked side jobs calling high-school and small college football and basketball games in Georgia and Alabama. In addition, Josh served as a producer and studio host for IMG College’s coverage of Tulane and UNLV football and basketball.
Caray is a 2004 graduate of Oglethorpe University in Atlanta where he received his B.A. in Communications along with a minor in History. While there, Josh was also a member of the Stormy Petrels track team and competed in the shot put, discus, and javelin.
