Visiting Stony Brook
Stony Brook University Admissions offers student-guided campus tours and information sessions during the academic year. We encourage all prospective students to sign up for these tours. You can sign up for the campus tours here.
Following your campus tour, you are more than welcome to visit the J-School’s Newsroom and sit in on a journalism class.

Wednesday, March 7 – My Life As Speaker Series featuring Gretchen Carlson
Join us for a special admitted student event on Wednesday, March 7 at 5:30 pm when we’ll be hosting Gretchen Carlson as our next My Life As Speaker Series guest. Ms. Carlson is a former Fox News anchor and author of Be Fierce, which chronicles her experiences standing up to sexual harassment in the workplace.

The School of Journalism Dean’s Award provides select incoming first-year, journalism majors with a four-year scholarship. Award amounts range from $4,000 to $6,000 per year.
To be eligible, students must:
1. Complete the Dean’s Award application;
2. Demonstrate high academic achievement;
3. Demonstrate a commitment to journalism through high school coursework, extra-curricular activities and/or internships.
